My goal in teaching is to help and support each student's performance, meeting them where they are and helping them rise to the next level.
BEGINNER
We start step by step: how to hold and play your instrument, listen, and read music. The first goal is to play one complete song and discover the joy of making music.
INTERMEDIATE
We focus on tone quality, posture, technique, and musical expression. Preparation for ABRSM and NYSSMA is available for New York City students.
CLASSICAL & JAZZ
Higher-level flute study.

For players working through classical technique or moving from the classical world into jazz flute, we explore the beauty and range of the instrument’s sound: fuzzy, matte, pure, shiny, gorgeous, and more.
A free performance begins with attentive tone, posture, embouchure, and intonation. Learning to observe yourself while you play leads to clearer, more effective practice.
